Illustration experiments for Light and Dark project
These are some illustration works that I've been doing for my college project of light and dark following our specialism areas. The two below were inspired by an illustrative study of a photo I took in Picadilly Circus in London from my trip there with college many years ago. The study was comprised of Promarkers and drawing inks as I was doing a response to reasearch I'd conducted into Karl Kerschl the comic book artist of one of my favourite comics Gotham Academy and is a main inspiration for this story.
In college time I decided to look at his and the work of another illustrator that I researched named Oliver Jeffers to see if they could give me a steer for this project. Following this was the development of these pieces, however I was limited by the colour Promarkers that I could use and therefore would need to improvise, and used blue and black inks. I even went as far as, introducing acrylics to add highlights to the pieces, and they seemed to prove very effective in the composition. I may further develop these pieces for the project to see if it could be used in a final outcome. They took approximately 2 hours to complete pending on the size of the paper.
